Binghamton Area Paranormal Society (B.A.P.S.) - The Premiere Binghamton Ghost Hunters

Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP) 2008-2009

For those of you who do not know an Electronic Voice Phenomena or EVP is a disembodied voice or sound that is usually recorded with a voice recorder digital or tape (both work just fine).

Most of the time these disembodied sounds or voices are not heard during the investigation but is heard upon reviewing the evidence.

Sometimes the voices or sounds are direct responses to questions or statements made, other times the voices or sounds are made randomly or in a way for the spirit to make their own statement.

EVP's are never a guarantee, it is very rare to find an extremely good EVP and we are very lucky to get any kind of EVP at all during any investigation.

Below are just some of the many EVP's caught by the Binghamton Area Paranormal Society Team.

Along with the EVP clip, there is a brief description describing the scenario and what to listen for in what spot. In some cases there may be dialogue included.

We do recommend due to the faintness of some of the EVP's that using headphones will increase your listening experience.

          Binghamton Area Paranormal Society EVP's

02/08/2008 - This EVP was caught on a cold February night on the ruins of an old tuberculosis hospital. We are walking around and an disembodied male voice tells us to "Leave". It is a 19 second clip, between seconds 12 and 13 the voice will come on. If you have a hard time hearing the disembodied voice listen to the amplified version or the amplified version where we have also slowed down the voice. The first one below is the amplified and slowed down while the second one is the regular version just amplified.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

07/15/2008 - This EVP was captured after a weird sequence of events. As soon as we got out of the car the car alarm went off. It was kind of weird because that was the first time in over a year that the alarm had gone off. Here is the dialogue that goes along with this 8 second EVP clip:

Investigator:"Uh thanks for pulling that prank on me with my car, that's never done that before, that's a good way to start"

(wait 3 1/2 seconds)

Disembodied Voice (quick and fairly faint):  "Sorry"

Below is the same "Car Alarm" clip but with in this clip the disembodied voice is amplified and slowed down to hopefully enhance your listening experience.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

08/29/2009 - This EVP was caught with two male investigators together. The one who is speaking is named Matt. We usually open up our EVP sessions by introducing ourselves to whoever is listening. Matt wants to have some flags to be waved or moved as a sign of presence. We did not see any flags move but we got a disembodied voice that is probably the best EVP we have ever got. This is a 42 second EVP clip. Below is the dialogue of this EVP clip.

Investigator: Can you move one of the flags to my either to my right, I'm in the white sweatshirt, to my right. Or to my left, there is two on my left. So out of the three flags make one of them move please."

(wait  18 seconds or until the clip hits 39 seconds)

Disembodied Voice: Matt Doesn't See Me.

The first of two "Matt Doesn't See Me"cleaned-up clips is one that is amplified and has some background noise removed to hopefully assist you with better listening.

The second of two "Matt Doesn't See Me" cleaned-up clips is one that is amplified and slowed down to hopefully assist you with better listening.

12/29/2008 - This EVP was a sound, or shall we say music that was caught. You hear the investigator say "You can say anything at all, anything you want. Feel free to". And after a short pause music starts playing. For those of you that think it was music played from a church or clock, I would like to say that the investigator was no wear near a clock and it was about 4:45pm, and no need for a church to make music or ring its bells. If we do hear exterior noise that we believe may affect the analysis of our EVP we usually mark it during the recording. There was no music heard during this investigation. Here is the dialogue to this EVP clip:

Investigator: "You can say anything at all, anything you want. Feel free to"

(wait 7 seconds or until the recording reaches a total of 11 seconds)

07/12/2009 - This is an EVP that was captured during an investigation in the Rome, NY area. We are having a hard time figuring out what the disembodied voice is saying. The best we came up with is "Right Here". It is a 11 second long clip and the disembodied voice appears right around the 4 second mark. Our investigator was trying trying to see if a spirit could make a temperature fluctuation for us. Here is the dialogue in this EVP clip:

Investigator: "If you had gotten that temperature up for us that would be awesome"

(wait 1 second)

Disembodied Voice: "Right Here"

(wait 4 seconds)

Investigator: 73 and a half (regarding a temperature reading)

7/15/2009 - While in the Rome, NY area we made a trip over to the historical site of the Oriskany Battlefield. Click HERE to read more about the Oriskany Battlefield and the battle fought there. We brought out a K-II Meter to try and detect electromagnetic fields and possibly try and make communication. You can hear the investigator say "It's almost too bright to use the K-II, I can't read the lights here...but" then an disembodied says "How you doing?" or "What you doing" we can not figure it out completely. It is a 9 second clip and the disembodied voice appears right around the 8 second mark. Here is the dialogue in this EVP clip.

(wait 1 second)

Investigator: "It's almost too bright to use the K-II, I can't read the lights here" (2 second pause) "but..."

(wait 2 seconds)

Disembodied Voice: "How you doing?"

7/16/2009 - Still up in Rome, NY we were doing an EVP session and K-II Meter communication session at the same time. It was amazing on how active this K-II session was and how some of the answers flashed through the K-II Meter corrilated with the spoken answers we got during the EVP session. In this instance we asked the spirit if it knew what year it was. And the K-II Meter flashed twice for the answer "Yes" (as instructed). So you can hear the investigators throw out random years to see if they can't get a response. All the years we threw out we got responses of no, until we said 2009. But wait there's more. Before we said 2009, the spirit beat us to the punch. In this clip you will hear the spirit say "two-thousand nine" as the answer to the question. Here is the dialogue that goes with this EVP clip:

(wait for 1 second)

Investigator 1:  "You said you knew what year it was"

(1 second pause)

Investigator 1: "Is it 2001?"

(3 second pause)

Investigator 1: "Is to two thous-"

(2 second pause)

Investigator 2: "Hmm, (unknown what he is saying)

(1 second pause)

Disembodied Voice: "Two-Thousand Nine"

Investigator 1: "Is it 2005?"

7/16/2009 - Same Investigation as the other one from above. We started asking questions if the spirits knew our names. So you will hear an investigator ask "Is his name John?" and the answer we received was unexpected. Nothing happened on the K-II Meter but what was said in a female voice got both of our attention. As the investigators name is Derek, and the spirit says "Derek". Here is the dialogue:

(2 second pause)

Investigator: "Is his name John?"

(2 second pause)

Disembodied Voice: "Derek"

Here is the cleaned up and amplified version of "Derek"

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

10/15/2009...Investigating a local residence we were getting a really impressive K-II Meter session and getting a lot of hits corresponding to the questions we were asking. We asked if we could test him again and then we hear a few unexplained breaths or whispers then a loud knock at the end.

Investigator: Is it ok if we test you again?

- - - Random breaths, whispers, followed by a knock at the end of the clip - - -

------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 10/15/2009...In the same local residence we were still asking questions. And it seems like the spirit did not wanted to have a question asked because in the beginning of this clip you can hear the spirit say "Please don't ask". The thing is we do not know what he didn't want us to ask. This voice was heard by our lead investigator as you can hear him interrupt the other investigator and say "did you say something?".

 Disembodied Voice: "Please don't ask"

Investigator #1 (Female Voice):  We never asked... (cut off by investigator #2)

Investigator #2 (Male Voice): Was that you?

Investigator #1: What?

Here is a cleaned up version to the "Please Don't Ask" clip
